SWAT Advisor
Donna Scapellati is the SWAT Advisor for Putnam Academy of Arts and Sciences.
I have been a middle school teacher for 23 years. It has always saddened me to run into past students out in public and find out they smoke. I feel if we can educate students at a young age about the harm of tobacco and vaping, we might see more people decide not to pick it up in the first place. I have been a part of SWAT since I started teaching at Putnam Academy of Arts and Sciences and in that time have learned a great deal and have enjoyed sharing with my students. It develops a bond that will never be broken when you work side-by-side with youth for really good causes. I only wish I had started earlier.

SWAT Club President
My name is Amari Scott, and I am currently an 8th grade student serving as the President of Putnam County SWAT, a leadership role I have proudly held for the past three years. Throughout my time in this position, I have remained dedicated to empowering youth and promoting healthy, tobacco-free lifestyles throughout my community.
As a passionate leader and advocate, I coordinate plans, organize events, and lead outreach efforts to educate my peers about the dangers of tobacco use while encouraging positive choices and strong leadership among young people. I also work with other youth programs and fellow youth leaders to help create initiatives that make a positive impact in schools and across the community.
My consistency, experience, and ongoing commitment reflect my strong leadership and dedication to making a lasting impact. I continue to inspire others to use their voice and take action for a healthier future.
